But when I made the decision to have her at 18....my father said to me something that has always stayed with me and that was " You have made your bed now lay in it" and that is just what I have done.WITHOUT STATE AID, was it hard, yes.. did I want to get state aid at times, yes But when I felt like that I just worked harder like everyone else in the world. I'd be curious to know if you have cable...I went without for 6 years not only to save money but to not turn into a couch patato, we read books and played board games. You must also get a large tax return like I did, I saved it....I also went through a seperation from my daughters father when she was only six months old. He was abusive, it cost me 5000.00 in court to get what I wanted in Parental rights and responsiblilities. AND HE WAS THE ABUSIVE ONE. but I did it because it helped my child, made me stronger and I still payed my rent. Had food in the fridge and was still able to take my daughter to the movies every now and then...and that is without child support. We americans have become lazy and dependant on the state. Nothing gets to me more when I go to the grocery store on my 70.00 budget and I see a woman with children, overweight with all name brand foods, beer and more paying with a EBT card....if anything the Government should at least require you to buy store brand, at least then they would be contributing to the longevity of the store not to Nabisco or Marlboro....so any way my point is that if you really try you can raise a child and work and pay your bills without state aid. I should know at the age of 27 with an 8 yr old child I have opened and successfully established my own floral business with out any credit cards! I also just opened a Contract Postal Unit within my store....All without state aid or family aid...I did what my dad told me to do...I made my bed and I now commfortably sleep in it...Hard work and determination is all you need. I have to say that there is a major stereotype about people getting assistants from the state. Unlike the people that you think are using the state I am one that is not. I go to school fulltime, I am taking a CNA course which is four days a week and then I work about 30 to 35 hours a week. Does that sound like I'm wasting away money and using the state. NO. I can understand your opinion but this is the stereotype that makes people like me look bad. I am almost done with getting help with the state I jsut need help paying for childcare until I become a CNA the end of May. Right now I barely make enough to pay rent. My daughter is a beautiful girl and I am stuc trying to decide to pay rent or pay child care to work. You tell me what you would choose. This is a very difficult situation and I hope that the state can help me with this so I can be completely independent. Her father it not apart of her life so there is no help there.
